Square Roots Farm

Bulk/Custom Ordering

One of the most popular ways that customers purchase our lamb is through whole and half shares. Lamb shares offer a significant savings over buying cuts at market and they allow you to work directly with a custom butcher, but the pricing can be tricky to wrap your head around. When you buy a whole or half lamb, you end up paying two people: the butcher and us. We charge by the hanging weight, which is the weight of the animal after it is slaughtered and eviscerated but before it is cut up. Butcher costs vary depending on how you have your share cut. Feel free to contact us with questions.

How to Purchase

We consider our 100% grass-fed lamb one of the most sustainable products we offer. Because sheep (and cows, for that manner) have rumins containing special beneficial bacteria, they can obtain all of their nutritional needs from grass. That means that we can grow acres and acres of feed for the sheep to harvest themselves – and fertilize while they’re at it! We feed only pasture and hay to our flock and take great care to finish lambs on the best feed on the farm. The result is a delicious, healthy, melt-in-your-mouth product that you can feel good about buying.
