Square Roots Farm
Employee housing consists of a rustic 16-foot yurt tucked into the woods just below the garden. There is a wood cook stove for heat and cooking adventures, and also a propane cook stove for less adventurous chefs. The yurt does not have electricity or running water, but there is a composting toilet nearby, and apprentices have access to the bathroom and laundry facilities in the farmhouse. It is accessible by truck for transporting water, wood, and other supplies.
We offer regular opportunities for CSA members to volunteer on the farm, but we welcome visits and help from the public, too! Contact us if you're interested in volunteering.
Each year we recruit apprentices to work with us full-time from April through October. Since this is an educational experience, we make sure apprentices have the opportunity to work on all aspects of the farm, from vegetable growing to chicken processing to farmers market sales. The schedule consists of a 5 and 1/2 day work week, and we offer housing in our 16-foot yurt & partial board along with a $800/month stipend. We are also part of the CRAFT program, which offers educational tours and meetings at local farms. We encourage apprentices and interns to attend so they can learn from the best producers in the region. For more information, visit our listing on ATTRA or Good Food Jobs, or contact us directly. To apply, email a resume, three references, and a completed application to firstname.lastname@example.org.
